This happened a couple of weeks ago out on my front porch during a T-storm. It was deafening, and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand straight up! Needless to say I didn't stay out much longer after that.
Make sure you drag the volume bar all the way up to get an idea of just how loud (and how close) it was.
